Become our Premises Manager

Yorkshire Artspace is seeking an energetic and experienced Premises Manager, who will work proactively to manage our two city-centre studio complexes in Sheffield.

These sites include Persistence Works, built in 2001 as the first purpose-built artist studios in the UK; and Exchange Place Studios, a 1930s art deco department store given new life in 2013. Home to over 150 artists and craftspeople, each with varied creative practices, Arts Council England describes us as “one the leading artist studio providers in Europe”.

As Premises Manager, you will support our commitment to maintaining this standard and providing workspaces that are safe, secure, high quality and affordable. You will tender and oversee works pertaining to the maintenance and improvement of our facilities and systems, ensuring service is of a high quality and provides value-for-money. You will be the primary knowledge-holder regarding the efficient and safe operation of our buildings, including our building management systems, fire and security systems, lifts, utilities, HVAC, heating and equivalents. You will additionally be given the opportunity to recruit, train and line-manage a Cleaning & Facilities Support role to assist you in keeping the buildings well-maintained.

We are searching for a strong team player who can work collaboratively with the rest of our small but experienced team and contribute effectively to strategic planning, policy development and reporting. The Premises Manager must build a good understanding of the creative practices at work in our spaces. An demonstrable interest in the arts and/or crafts is therefore essential. You will value people as individuals and have a genuine commitment to resolving issues and delivering excellent service.

Yorkshire Artspace is committed to equality and diversity, and we aim for our Staff and Board to reflect this. We therefore particularly welcome applications from individuals who are underrepresented in the arts and cultural sector.
