Wood & Stone, Land & Sea - Paul Dearden and Steve Hudson 3rd May - 31st May Exchange Place Gallery

Paul Dearden and Steve Hudson

'Wood & Stone, Land and Sea’

Exchange Place Studios

3rd May – 31st May 2019

Monday – Saturday 11am – 3.30pm including Bank Holidays

An exhibition of paintings by Paul Dearden and sculpture by Steve Hudson. Paul draws inspiration from the equally contrasting and alluring ‘Land and Sea’ of Yorkshire landscapes, from the strata in the cliffs and stone structures of Saltwick Nab near Whitby, to the limestone gorge and ancient woodland of South Anston Stones where he spent his childhood. Meanwhile, Steve’s work is based on the theme of ‘Wood and Stone’, making use of these media to form his sculptures.

Born from a fascination with how history makes its mark on the landscape, both visible and invisible, overt and hidden, this exhibition forms a new body of work which explores the memory of location.

The exhibition will also feature video presentations by Trevor Pollard, related to the landscapes. A performance by a local music and performance collective will also form part of the program (To be Announced).Watch Trevor Pollard’s feature film ‘Brief Candle’ based on the themes of 'Wood & Stone, Land and Sea’, and on Paul’s work at:
