JULY 2022

Co-Lab is our annual summer project that sees us collaborate with local arts organisations and community groups to co-programme activity at Exchange Place. Our partner for Co-Lab 22 is ArtWorks, a not-for-profit creative arts organisation who support adult artists with learning disabilities and autism to achieve their potential.

Throughout the month of July, we hosted gallery takeover by ArtWorks artists, who took part in a range of art workshops and created new work that contributed to an ever-expanding showcase in the gallery. During the takeover, the artists collaborated with Yorkshire Artspace members Mandy Gamsu, Richard Johnson, Christopher Jarratt, and Becca Brown to learn new techniques and develop their own creative responses to these established practices.

We hosted open days and a celebratory closing event, giving families of the artists as well as the general public the chance to visit and see the work that had been produced during the takeover.
