Introducing Nina Rithalia

How did you hear about the Starter Studio Programme?

I knew that Sheffield was a city known for its metalwork and silver. From talking to makers at exhibitions and fairs, I kept hearing good things about Yorkshire Artspace and the Starter Studio Programme at Persistence Works. I visited Sheffield to look around the studio and found it to be a welcoming and inspiring place and Sheffield to be a friendly city.

Can you describe your practice?

I studied jewellery making at college but recently my interest has developed into making larger silverware pieces such as boxes and vessels. I'm looking forward to having a fully equipped workshop and having more time to develop my work and skills. I’d like my business to grow and hopefully receive a commission or two.

Where can people see your work?

Originally coming from Bolton, I am part of Manchester Jewellers Network. I currently have jewellery for sale in Manchester Art Gallery Shop. Over the Christmas period I will also have jewellery for sale in The Royal Exchange, Manchester and Salford Art Gallery. I am taking part in the Open Studios in November at Yorkshire Artspace where I will be showing silverware. People can also visit my website to see my work.
